THE CAREER ARC

Aging, damage, retirement, legacy, and what a finished career leaves behind.

What is the difference between condition and damage?

Both live on the BODY & WEAR card, and they measure different things.

CONDITION is short-term freshness. Training drains it, a fight drains it hard, and it refills on its own in real time; the card shows a countdown to 100%. Fighting while banged up weakens your fighter in the cage, so walk in fresh when you can. COLD PLUNGE and DAY OFF-GRID in the Recovery Center top it up faster.

DAMAGE is long-term wear. Every fight adds to it, it never refills on its own, and part of it becomes permanent. The dark stretch at the start of the bar is scar tissue that no treatment removes. STEM CELLS is the one Recovery Center option that heals damage, and only the treatable part. When the bar reaches 100 the cageside doctor ends the career.

Condition is about this week. Damage is about the whole career.

How do I retire my fighter, and what happens when I do?

Open MY FIGHTER and scroll to the last card, RETIRE FIGHTER. The button opens a confirm dialog, and CONFIRM RETIREMENT closes the career for good and opens the CAREER COMPLETE legacy card. You cannot retire while a fight is booked: finish the bout first.

Retirement is permanent. Your final weight class is what shows on the legacy profile. Cosmetics stay on the legacy profile and are reusable on your next fighter. Gold invested in the fighter stays spent.

If the fighter holds a belt, the title is vacated, and a champion who walks away makes the news on the champion wire in Discord. The fighter leaves their camp, and any pending offers and callouts are dropped. Your stable switches to another active fighter if you have one; otherwise you can start a new career. The retired fighter stays in your stable under RETIRED with a LEGACY button.

How does my fighter age?

Your fighter ages on career time, not the calendar. Fights, training sessions, and accelerated camps move the career clock forward, and when enough of it has passed your fighter has a birthday. The fight receipt prints a BIRTHDAY line with the new age when a fight cycle crosses one. A fighter who sits idle does not get older.

Birthdays cut both ways. A young fighter's physical attributes tend to improve a little on their own. Later in the career the physical side (speed, cardio, chin, power, strength) can erode on a birthday, and the more damage a fighter carries, the harder those birthdays hit. Cutting to a weight class well below the natural frame adds strain of its own.

Skills and techniques never fade; only the body does. Physical stats also cost more XP after age 27, so build the body early and let the skills carry the back half.

What are milestones and how do I earn them?

Milestones are one-time career badges. There are 27, grouped as WINS, KNOCKOUTS, SUBMISSIONS, STREAKS, VOLUME, IRON, BELTS, and MOMENTS. There are no mysteries: every badge prints exactly how it is earned, such as WIN YOUR FIRST FIGHT (FIRST BLOOD), WIN 10 FIGHTS BY SUBMISSION (10 SUBS), GET KNOCKED DOWN AND STILL WIN THE FIGHT (COMEBACK KID), or WIN A TITLE FIGHT (FIRST STRAP).

Badges are checked when a fight settles. New ones arrive as a MILESTONE UNLOCKED fanfare listing what you earned tonight and the nearest NEXT UP badges with a progress meter. Each badge pays a little gold the first time any fighter on your account earns it; a later fighter earning the same badge shows ALREADY BANKED. The MILESTONES card on the stat sheet shows earned chips and up to three locked teasers, and opens the full list with every badge, its rule, your progress, and its gold.

What carries over when I retire and start a new fighter?

Your account is the manager; fighters come and go. Gold and fighter slots belong to the account, so they stay, and a retired fighter frees their slot for the next career. Cosmetics stay on the legacy profile and are reusable on your next fighter. Milestone gold already banked does not pay a second time, but a new fighter can still earn every badge.

The fighter does not carry over. XP spent, skills, techniques, record, belts, and camp membership stay with the career that earned them. Gold invested in a fighter stays spent.

The retired fighter stays in your stable under RETIRED with a LEGACY button, and their CAREER COMPLETE card, stat sheet, and fight results remain public across the league. REMOVE… hides a retiree from your stable; it does not erase them. START A NEW CAREER on the legacy card, or CREATE on the stable, begins the next one.

What does the CAREER COMPLETE screen show?

CAREER COMPLETE is a retired fighter's legacy card, and their public profile from then on.

  • THE LEGACY: a grade, a one-line verdict, and a LEGACY SCORE. The grades run Amateur, Regional Standout, Elite Contender, World Champion, Hall of Famer, and GOAT Candidate. Only WFL world-title wins lift a career into the top grades.
  • The record, a RETIRED AT age tag, and the reason when the doctor ended it.
  • CAREER NUMBERS: title wins, finishes, popularity, career earnings, and on your own fighter the final bankroll.
  • THE BELTS: every belt held and how many separate reigns, such as 2× LIGHTWEIGHT WFL WORLD CHAMPION.
  • THE HARDWARE: FIGHT, KO, and SUB OF THE NIGHT counts.
  • The FINAL FIGHT LOG and a VIEW STATS door to the full stat sheet.

SHARE THE LEGACY opens a share card with the record, grade, and score. START A NEW CAREER begins the next one.

What is on the FIGHTER STATS screen?

Every fighter profile has a VIEW STATS button that opens the stat sheet.

  • Headline tiles: BOUTS, WIN RATE, KOS, and STREAK, with a 🔥 ON FIRE chip on a long run.
  • STRIKING: strikes landed and thrown, with ACCURACY and KO RATE meters.
  • GRAPPLING: takedowns, submission attempts, and a CONTROL meter for time spent on top.
  • DURABILITY, the chin card: DAMAGE TAKEN, STRIKES EATEN, KDS SURVIVED, and TIMES KO'D.
  • CAREER RECORDS: FASTEST KO, RING TIME, CONTROL TIME, and KNOCKDOWNS.
  • TITLES, RESULTS split by tier and by division, and MILESTONES.

The sheet counts the bouts your official record counts. Once a fighter turns pro, the amateur book closes and the pro bouts carry the sheet. GO PUBLIC and GO PRIVATE on MY FIGHTER decide whether opponents can read your detailed sheet; a private fighter still shows an overall rating, record, and known techniques.

What is FORCED TO RETIRE?

When the DAMAGE bar hits 100, the cageside doctor will not clear another fight and the career ends on the spot. The FORCED TO RETIRE popup shows a final character sheet: the full damage bar with its scar tissue marked, how it happened, the final build and record, and who is next in line. Your stable switches to another active fighter if you have one; otherwise start a new career when you are ready. The legacy card waits in your stable under RETIRED FIGHTERS.

There is no appeal and no treatment. The only defense is upstream: treat damage before it scars, do not fight banged up, and remember that a knockout loss never heals.

Why is part of my damage bar dark, and why will it not heal?

The dark stretch at the start of the DAMAGE bar is scar tissue. The card says it plainly: some damage is permanent, a knockout never heals, untreated damage can scar too, and recovery may weaken over time.

The bill for a fight follows the beating: a long war or a finish loss costs more than a quick, clean win. Part of every bill scars at once, and a knockout loss locks its stamp for good. The rest stays treatable for a stretch of career time; leave it long enough and it scars as well. Treatment works on your oldest damage first, so even a partial STEM CELLS session saves the damage closest to turning permanent. Treatments taken back to back do less, so spread them out.

The fight receipt shows the split under DAMAGE as a PERMANENT line, tagged (KNOCKOUT) when the lock applied. Late in a career more of each bill scars at once.

What is the Champion's Wall?

The CHAMPION'S WALL is a room a fight camp builds at its HQ from the GM office BUILD tab, under THE EMPIRE. Once it stands it does two things: it lifts fan gain for the camp at every location, and it keeps a roll call of every fighter who won or defended a belt under the camp's sign, plus any reigning champion who brought a belt in.

Each plaque shows the fighter's portrait, name, and division with a belt rack: one 🏆 for every belt won and one 🛡 for every defense. A long reign overflows into a +N you can tap for the full rack and a tally. Plaques carry a tag when it matters: REIGNING, RETIRED, or FORMER. A retired name opens the legacy card. The camp page shows the first few names with ALL N ▶ to the full wall, which pages with SHOW MORE.
